A typical thesis can range from 100 to 200 pages of letter size paper.
The word length for a /report does not include footnotes, references
or appendices, nor does it include equations, tables, diagrams and
other illustrations.
The responsibility for the layout of the thesis and selection of the
title rests with the candidate after discussion with the supervisor. The
candidate should state generally in the preface and bibliography, and
specifically in footnotes, the sources of the information and the extent
to which the thesis draws on the work of others.
The type is normally double spaced. The font is normally 12 pt. (Remember,
each font is designed differently and the actual printed size can vary.
Choosing a larger font can reduce the amount of words or characters
per page.)
Margins should be near 1" around theedges to allow for binding and
trimming.
Books should include full citation, as follows: names of authors (surname
and initials); title of book; edition (if relevant); place of publication;
publisher and year of publication. Where necessary, the relevant pages
should be cited.
Theses may be submitted in either spring-type or screw-type binder.
Video tape cassettes or pc disks must be inserted inside the back cover
of each thesis copy.
Additional reports or manuals
In the case that additional reports/manuals are required to be submitted,
they shall be bound separately. The format of these reports/manuals shall
adhere to the same requirements of the final report/thesis as much as
possible.
Each student must submit two hardcopies of the reports to your adviser
before the end of the project period.
